John Maltby (b 1936) Flute Sculpture
This stunning sculpture of a flute in stoneware pottery was produced by the highly collectable artist John Maltby (b1936).
John Maltby was born in Lincolnshire and studied at both Leicester and Goldsmiths in sculpture before diversifying into pottery under the tutelage of David Leach and setting up his own studio in
Devon. The influences can be clearly seen in this piece.
It measures approximately 29cms x 10cms x 6cms. There are two incredibly tiny chips to one of the keys of the flute, which are hardly noticeable when on display, but have been fully
photographed for clarities sake. The piece is highly unusual and is quite possibly a one off.
